I miss my life in the country of the Great Britain in the years of my university days wandering about the United Kingdom at 19 years of age. Life there was more than it. Life there taught me grace and patience. And I learnt these lessons through my profound morning ritual in horse-riding. After covid happened I took a gap year, and that’s when I found my passion in the arts, especially textile arts, so instead of fashion design undergraduate degree in Paris, I moved my decision to Fine Art and History of Art in London where the English Ianguage was more accesible to me though I was learning French at that time in my gap year, but I was not ready for Paris. Learning the broad Fine Arts intentionally was a blessing as my research and making specialty was in the textile arts. Wandering at the museums, galleries, and libraries where Indonesian arts, specifically textile arts, have been taken from Indonesia through the British colonisation, and classical, traditional, and contemporary arts in general became my forté. Making that decision was the best for me because the English culture, people, and culture were something I cannot forget. I keep on reminiscing the memories of the place in the clothes that I wear. After settling in back in my home country, Indonesia, the memories of the country, where I resided in for years, the brand Magic Spark is a reflection of the lifestyle I built back in England. The memory of living in England is in the clothes of MagicSpark lifestyle. I want to bring the daily lifestyle of horse-riding and being immersed in the arts world hand-in-hand through the portability of Magic Spark clothes that enable travel through time and space, through worlds. In activities throughout the day.
Horses were a safe space. They still are and will always be.
So I built a brand of horse-riding clothes. For effortless, fun, versatile wearing.
Because I know, a horse girl out is dreaming for that outfit.
The idea to create my own dream brand started when I came back to horse-riding, an old-found routine I fell in love with. My desire to do so rose from wanting to replicate what formed my life in England: horse-riding, its horsemanship, its journey.
I went horse-riding in the cold Great Britain. Clothing for horse-riding in such weather is different to the heat of Indonesia. I wanted to create horse-riding clothes for all-weather wear, including the arctic country and the polar opposite tropical country, that can also be worn for daily to special occasions. Place, and the love of the particular place, is in the heart of Magic Spark’s design. Cloth transports us to a place, a place that we keep on reminiscing, a place where we keep on longing. One that we might not even have visited before.
Finding the right clothing to horse-ride in during certain weathers is important.
Magic Spark is designed in British essence for the tropic. In the love of country.
I met horse-riding when I was discovering myself. I continue to discover myself through horse-riding. I know you can discover yourself too. Horse-riding is spirit.
Horse-riding is a sport, built for its longevity. It is a cardio, but magical. Transformative.
